Old picture re-post

In an effort to keep my blog updated, if I dont have anything really interesting to blog about, i'm just going to post an old picture that I took. So thats what I'm doing today.
I'm choosing this picture today because it's one of the first pictures i've ever taken on a roll of film. Im pretty sure I took this in 1999 or 2000. It was taken with my first camera that i ever owned (the 35mm Nikkormat that my mom bought me from the swap meet.) I was just learning about photography, and a big thing that interested me was "Long exposures". Since me and my friends usually went out at night, I didnt have much other opportunity to shoot photos any other time of day. My camera was completely analog, no light meter, no timer, no nothing.
This picture was taken on "bulb" setting. I think it was about a 60 second exposure. 28mm prime lens. I used my cable release, clicked that sucker in... then hid behind a rock and waited for some water to come splash on that rock. As soon as it splashed, I popped off my flash that i was holding in my hand. I had no idea how the picture came out until I developed it at Sam's Club. I was stoked, and that's why i'm still stoked on it now.

Grandma's Birthday: Bucca Di Plenty-o-food

Sunday night, we went out for a great big family dinner to celebrate Sam's Grandma's birthday!! I dont know if she wants to mention how old she is, but its somewhere between 65 and 75 years old, somewhere IN THE MIDDLE. Anyway, there was like 25 of us, so pretty much the place that came to mind was 'Bucca di Beppo'. Some fun italian foods. Good choice. It was a good time, most of the family came out, the kids enjoyed the pizza, the atmosphere, and everyone enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate another year spent with one of the greatest grandparents ever, Diane... or as Bella calls her "grandma bear". As some of you know, grandma Diane came a long with us for our 3,500 mile road trip across the USA this past spring. She has to be the best road trippin' grandma out there. It was awesome to have her sit 'co-pilot' with me a long some of the long stretches across Arizona and Texas. She's rad.

Taking a backstage look at the Bucca kitchen.
Bella checking the "quality control"
our table in the back... one day I hope I get that round table with the "Pope head" in the middle... oh well, next time.
There was another birthday party on the table behind us (not as cool as our party).. but well spirited for sure. They came by our table and gave us some party favors and balloons and stuff. Awesome for Bella
Pepperoni pizza got mopped up in 24.7 seconds.
Bronson likes the photos on the wall. oooh la la, is that a picture of a lady in lingerie? .. One day i'm gonna bring my own framed photo and glue it to the wall. I really dont think anyone would notice... hmmm.
Giant meatballs!!!!
Spare ribs and Lasagna .... mmmm keep it coming.
Krissa's daughter, baby Giana!!! absolutely adorable!! she had a blast running around the table and playing with balloons.
this was either her "Pirate face"... or her face taking a vision test. Either way, too cute.
trying to get a family photo with some of the Ing children. Giana's face was perfect in this one.
now i'm missing Kalani's face....
this was the best one...
someone pass down the mashed potatoes!!

Birthday cake time... the good thing about singing "happy birthday" in Bucca's is the fact that the whole restaurant will join in.
everyone is clapping with perfect form, except Sam... she's clapping out of synchronized time.
candle - extinguished - wish - come true

all the Ladies!! hey ladies!!
fellahs!!! hey fellahs!
for some reason Bella looks like a cartoon or something in this picture, like a south park character of something..
Kiss kiss time
"just can't stop loving you"
I almost wanna knock out my front teeth so I can look just like Bella... I'd do anything for this kid.

Happy Birthday GranDiane.

Friday ~ 'Manifest' & 'Apartm3nt' (again)

Friday night, we got a babysitter. Thank you grandma. Anyway we all got together to go to "Manifest" and "Apartment 3" again. Me and Sam also got ourselves a hotel room to stay in, so we didnt have to drive home. It was a good time like always, I guess it's always good when youre with good company.

We started off the night by meeting at Angels house. We started the cheap drinking there. Actually it looks like Fayesha is starting her night off by lifting 5 lbs. blue barbells.
This is a bag of cheerios. Good snack with beer.
After Angels' we all met at "Manifest" in chinatown. I love this place. This night, it was quite hot because there were a lot of people there. There was a fundraiser function going on right before we got there. A place for cool kids.
the Justin and the Cameron
Finally Talon came out with us, been missing this guy for a while now.
Tha Crestallion came over for a while too.

Husband and wife times.
I love my fish-eye lens because I can take pictures like this, and it looks like someone else took it.
... another reason we went out, it was Sam's co-workers birthday. This be Robyn.

who's finger is pointing at Sam?? I know that's not mine... hmmm weird.
Sneakers and Boots (also the name of my cat)
the Shelby!!!
Cameron, double stacked at the moment.
"Hi down there... you must be my genitals"

J.P. doing a pour job.
Bob the builder
Frequent Flyer
my camera was getting into the party mode
me and cam... Cam's drink looks delicious
Drew showed up too!!! here he is with whatever that girl's name is.

...as soon as it touches your lips..
"Fayesha Face"
last shot from "Manifest"... see ya soon.

Next stop, Apartm3nt. They had the fireplace going on which was cool looking, but it didnt help with the temperature in there. It was hot, hot, hot in there!!! tonight this fireplace was "fashion over function"..
Duck
pretty crowded in here. We actually had to wait in line, crazy.

whoot whoot!! We came to see Landon and Kala, both dudes who used to work with sam, and now they work at Apartment3.
what was I drinking?? passion fruit sake or something like that...
Alden met us there. Please note two things, first, Alden's glasses have no lenses in them. Second, the blonde girl in the back seems interested in this photo.
such good artwork around the walls.
Landon server face.
I think Angel took these pictures.

how crazy is this.. the DJ tonight was "D.J. Show", or as I like to call him, Mark. Mark used to work with me at PacSun. He rules.
Mark was also the DJ at our wedding!!!
..in action.
o.k. the funniest thing I saw all night. Some girl was standing next to me, and when I looked up at her, all I saw was her purse in my face. She had a toothbrush hanging out of her purse!! Who brings a toothbrush to a bar??? Was she a hooker? was she homeless?? was she planning on sleeping at some dudes house that night?? haha, it was ridiculous.
... getting tired and hungry. time to go
So me and sam went to zippy's for some late night food, then went to our hotel...
.. we "Knocked boots"

yeah yeah so that was friday night.
Also worth mentioning, when I checked into our hotel earlier that day I witnessed this lady get hit by a car while she was on her moped. I couldnt get my camera out in time to take the picture while she was still on the ground. But she ended up being o.k., the cops came and everything. Interesting moment.

good day to you sir.
